Our Helicopters

Chopper Worx operates a fleet of AS350B3, Bell 407 and Bell 206 helicopters.

Eurocopter AS350 Ecureuil

The single engine AS350B3 Ecureuil is renowned for its high performance, its safety and its reduced operating costs. This helicopter, powered with a Turbomeca Arriel engine has a proven track record. As the world altitude record holder for helicopters, its flexibility and low acquisition cost has made it a very sought-after helicopter to perform a wide range of missions (passenger transport, aerial work, fire fighting etc). Its design calls for widespread use of composite materials (airframe, "StarflexTM "main rotor head, main blades, beam type tail rotor, etc.).

The Ecureuil, also known as the ASTAR, is an excellent utility helicopter, able to carry under-slung loads of up to 1,400kg. Thanks to its high useful payload load (it can lift its own weight), it is well suited to all missions requiring a variety of mission equipment, from medical transport to police missions, due to the very short reconfiguration time.

Our AS350 fleet are configured identical as multi-tasking platforms, including:

  • External cargo basket
  • Self-refuelling fuel pump
  • Camera mounts for gyro stabilised gimbal systems
  • XL Vertical reference window
  • Cargo slinging mirror
  • Cabin heating
  • Monitor mount
  • 20 Amp, 28 to 12V power converter
  • Dual cargo hooks
  • High skids
  • Sand filter
  • Satellite tracking device
  • Air-conditioning system
  • Emergency stretcher installation
  • Sliding doors both sides
  • Bubble windows for improved visibility
  • 200 amp Generator
  • Long flight steps
  • Long range fuel tanks (providing flight time in excess of 5 hours)
  • High back pilot & co-pilot seats

Bell 206 Jetranger

The Bell 206 Jetranger is the most popular turbine helicopter of all time. In service since 1967, it seats five and with a maximum cruise speed of 213 km/h has a range in excess of 600 km. The 206B-3's history of reliability, the best safety record among all single-engine aircraft, its mission flexibility, and low operating and maintenance costs have long made the Jetranger a favourite of utility helicopter operator's world-wide.

The Jetranger is ideal for fire fighting, insect control, electronic newsgathering, offshore oil & gas support, pipeline patrol, aerial applications and air tourism.

Bell 206 Longranger

Designed upon the airframe and performance strengths of the Jetranger; the Longranger is our choice for Aerial Live Work, due to its specific power-to-weight ratio, control harmony and autorotational characteristics from the high hover. The capabilities of the Longranger also are perfect for electronic newsgathering and aerial tourism.

Superior value and intelligent design provides the perfect balance between cost and capability. The Longranger seats seven and with a maximum cruise speed of 207 km/h (which has the engine running at only 70% of its rated power) sees a range in excess of 600 km.

Bell 407

Sleek, fast and impressive - The Bell 407 is the sports car in the air. With very good hot and high hover capability, this aircraft delivers the best speed, payload and range in its class. It seats seven and with a maximum cruise speed of 246 km/h can reach a distance in excess of 600 km.

It serves equally well as a passenger and cargo transport or aerial crane. Included as standard safety features are Bells collective-mount, twist-grip throttles and rupture-resistant fuel system. The power and useful load of 2597 lbs (1178kg), coupled to the seating configuration, makes it an excellent platform for fire fighting, external load, construction, etc. The superior cruise speed combined with the high useful load makes it ideal for offshore oil & gas support
